Pest season on the Gold Coast
Most of what we get called out to is seasonal, and knowing roughly when a pest turns up makes it a lot easier to deal with before it becomes an infestation. The subtropical climate here means there isn't really an off-season — it just changes shape through the year.
Spring and early summer (September to December)
The busiest stretch of the year. Warmth and humidity bring ants indoors looking for water, spiders start building webs around eaves and window frames, and cockroach activity climbs sharply. This is the ideal window for a general treatment — get it done before numbers build and you spend the summer on the front foot rather than chasing a problem.
Peak summer (January to March)
Storm season pushes pests indoors. Heavy rain floods subfloors and garden beds, which is when we see the worst of the cockroach callouts, particularly German cockroaches in unit blocks and kitchens. Mosquito and flea pressure peaks around the same time, and holiday rentals along the coast see a spike in bed bug reports with the turnover of guests.
Autumn (April to June)
As it cools, rats and mice start moving into roof voids, wall cavities and garages. Rodent season on the Gold Coast is genuinely underestimated — by the time you hear scratching overhead, they've usually been there a while. Autumn is also when wasp and bee nests reach full size and become a real risk around kids and pets.
Winter (July to August)
The quietest months, and the best value time to book. Pests don't disappear, they just move deeper into the building — which makes them easier to find and treat with less disruption. It's also the most reliable time to get a same-day booking, and a good window for end-of-lease treatments if you're moving out.
